Denmark at Last

We have been in Copenhagen since Friday afternoon and all flights and connections went smoothly.  Even all of our luggage arrived at the same time as Glen and I.  Some of you knew that I became very sick right as we were leaving the MTC, and had about ten hours of terrible sickness and worry that we would not be able to fly out on time.  This was very discouraging to me as you know how long we have waited for the mission departure to actually come.   I had given myself till about midnight on the 13th to be sick, and knew if I didn't have a miracle by then, we would have to delay our leaving.  About 11:30 P.M. I had a wonderful change and knew everything would be ok in time to go.  I'll tell you about it sometime...

The last three days have flown!  When we arrived in Copenhagen we were picked up by Elder and Sister Thorne who drove us to the apartment of Elder and Sister Madsen who have been taking care of us while we live in their loft.  Our Mission President, President Sederholm, is in Iceland until tomorrow, so we will meet with him and receive our assignment in the next day or two.  The rumors (everyone else seems to know where we are going!) seem to say we will be leaving for Jutland about Wednesday.

Between Elder Thorne and Elder and Sister Madsen, we have been kept walking the streets of Copenhagen in order to stay awake, hence adjusting quicker to our new time zone!  The weather has been wonderful (minus some wind!) and today we have had a ton of rain.  So girls, my hair will either be frizzy due to humidity or blown straight as straw with the wind! We went to church just outside of Copenhagen, and have had a great day learning from the Madsens about the YSA program here in Copenhagen.  It was the first program of this kind and has been very successful.

Below are a few pictures to let you know where we've been:  Salt Lake Airport (Thanks Tod!), London for a connection (wish we could have stayed for a bit), my first look at Denmark (fluffy white clouds), and then a few shots in Copenhagen.  Grandpa Westenskow (my Dad) would be happy to know that the first "Danish" food we tried was Danish ice cream!  It was delicious!
