MTC Day 1 - Companions Assigned

We are off and running with 148 other senior missionaries!  156 has been the largest group entering the MTC on the same day to date, so our group of 150 is near the record.  In this large group, there were actually two couples with the last name of Parker, so that caused a bit of confusion right from the start.  Nothing seemed too serious outside of the fact that we had no missionary name tags, and the other couple had four.  Now they have two and we have four as the MTC staff quickly ordered us new ones before ours were located in the other couple's packet.

A bit more complicated was the situation that I was "companion" to the wrong Elder Parker when we were going to sign our Ministerial Certificates!  I can't remember where the other Brother Parker was going to serve, but it was definitely not Denmark!  We quickly made the switch with the help of the MTC staff once again.  And yes, Dad was also grateful to have the correct companion as you know how much he likes to have me around.  He especially needs me to navigate when he tries to drive around DK and run the GPS at the same time.

The food was great, though Dad got in the pasta line when he really wanted Kahlua pork, but I shared mine with him so he could get a taste.  I was told by the wife of one of the counselors in the MTC presidency that we did not have to stay with our companion when we were in the cafeteria lines, as long as we could see him.  She was also looking for her husband, though they seemed to have a special table where they ate.  It was quite fun eating with hundreds of missionaries!  There are 2000 junior missionaries here at present.

We were told that not many senior missionaries go to Denmark which reinforced our testimony that we received a very special call.  Our travel packet was stamped, "You will receive your visa after you arrive in the mission field," so it seems we will be able to enter the country without it, even though as many of you know, Bev had no fingerprints when we applied in San Francisco last April!
