The Joys of Teaching

We love sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.  As we review many of the posts on this blog they show the beauty of Denmark and some of the places we have been fortunate to visit during our exercise walks through town and our visits to other locations on our preparation days.  We love sharing these with you, but the highlight of our service here is the people we are able to share our testimonies with.  These teaching moments are sometimes hard to share in pictures.

We love teaching the young single adults in their activities.  We love teaching discussions with the missionaries.  We love teaching our small institute class each week.  We are teaching Doctrine and Covenants and Church History.  Our students are mostly new to the church within the last year and a half.

One of the recent lessons we gave was on prayer and revelation, and I love the story of Joseph Millett below.  I would love to be a Joseph Millett and know that the Lord would refer someone to me to be an answer to their prayer.

Yesterday at Zone Training President Sederholm spoke on the power of prayer from the Bible Dictionary.
"As soon as we learn the true relationship in which we stand toward God (namely, God is our Father, and we are His children), then at once prayer becomes natural and instinctive on our part (Matt. 7:7–11). Many of the so-called difficulties about prayer arise from forgetting this relationship. Prayer is the act by which the will of the Father and the will of the child are brought into correspondence with each other. The object of prayer is not to change the will of God but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant but that are made conditional on our asking for them. Blessings require some work or effort on our part before we can obtain them. Prayer is a form of work and is an appointed means for obtaining the highest of all blessings."

I know that God hears and answers our prayers.  He loves us and we are all special to Him.  He wants us all to return as families back to his presence.  It's important for me to learn -"It's my will to do His will."
