More Fall Travels

Earlier in the month of October, we hosted a group of YSA from Berlin, Germany for a Saturday.  Two of the temples in Germany are closed for remodeling over the next year or so, and many of the German saints are traveling to Denmark to attend the temple.  The Berlin group came for a couple of days of temple attendance, and then a part day of food and touring in downtown Copenhagen.
I only have a few pictures of this activity to show, but they do give an idea of our small center which is right in the downtown area.  We have four tables to drop for when we eat, and then we take them up to fill the room with chairs for Institute and other meetings.  The space is tight, but it works!

We also have a small kitchen, but it is nice, and has good appliances and a dishwasher.  We often serve the food from there and then eat in the classroom.

Last Saturday was the first free day we had in over a month, so Elder Parker and I took advantage to drive south to the Stevns Klint area to see a bit of Denmark we had not seen before.  It was only an hour away, and we enjoyed being outside for the afternoon.  There is an old historic church in this area above the sea where the choir area of the church fell off into the sea in the early 1900's.  Not many people came to the church before that, but about 20,000 came very quickly to see where the part of the building had fallen off into the water below!  No one was in the church at the time of the "falling away."

Fall is definitely here, and the temperatures are slowly dropping, but it is still very nice to be outside.
The following pictures are of our apartment entrance and within 1/2 block of where we live.

Fall is probably our favorite season here and back home!  It always meant a rest from the very long and busy seasons of winter, spring, and summer of running Aspen Grove Family Camp and Conference Center for Brigham Young University.  The colors of nature are beautiful in the fall, especially in the canyons back home, and the weather is great for traveling.

Fall is also the season for Thanksgiving, which may be an American holiday, but one which we will also celebrate with all the missionaries here in Denmark as well.  The following scripture has been on my mind lately:
     D. & C. 59:7   -  "Thou shalt thank the Lord thy God in all things."

"All things" is great when things are going the way we want them to go, but can be kind of difficult during the not-so-good times that are required to help us grow individually or just happen as part of the ups and downs of life.  I know we are very blessed as individuals, as a family, as missionaries, and as members of the Church of Jesus Christ.  Thanksgiving time is a wonderful time of year to remind us of just how blessed we are, and we should, indeed, celebrate!
