We Love General Conference

Twice a year Bev and I experience two of the highlights of the year.  We love General Conference.  We love to hear from our Prophet, the Apostles and other leaders of the church.  We are so blessed to live in these last days and have the gospel in its fulness.

A group of members of the church were once asked three questions:
1.  How important are temples to the Lord?
2.  How important is Sacrament Meeting to the Lord?
Their response was very high in the importance of both of these to the Lord.

The speaker then indicated that twice a year the Lord has all 173 of the temples closed and cancels all Sacrament Meetings in the nearly 30,000 wards and branches throughout the world for General Conference.

3.  How important is General Conference to the Lord?

A member of our church once had a friend who was not a member ask her what was significant about our church.  The member indicated that one of the most significant things that set our church apart from others was that we had a prophet and twelve apostles at the head of our church just as Jesus Christ organized when He was on earth.  The friend showed some interest in this and asked her friend if the prophet and apostles often visited with the members of the church and shared what Christ would have them do.  The member indicated, "Why yes, every six months we have a conference and the prophet and apostles  all speak."  (In fact, they had just had a conference a few weeks ago.) The friend again showed some interest in this and asked, "What did the prophet share with you that was significant?"  What would your answer be?

Harold B. Lee said, "We should let these conference addresses be the guide to [our] walk and talk during the next six months."

I, too, would encourage each of us to make these addresses the guide for our lives the next six months.
